我繼續整理了【日常生活篇】裡幾個字母, 也同樣地在站上加了許多相關的註解, 歡迎朋友有空能去站上看一看, 並繼續給黛西建議。

| fill someone in 告訴某人, 讓他了解一些狀況 |

A: Can someone please fill me in on what's going on here?
A: 有沒有人能告訴我這裡是發生什麼事了嗎?
B: Mr. Riley got into a car accident on his way to the airport last night. He is in a critical condition right now.
B: Riley 先生昨晚在到機場的路上發生了車禍。他現在情況很嚴重。
◆"fill someone in" 是告訴某個人一些事情(內幕、消息等), 讓對方可以對一些事情的情況有所了解。
例句中的情形,可能是一個人走進辦公室, 看見一群同事鬧哄哄地討論著某件事情, 他想搞清楚是怎麼回事, 就可要求其他人 "fill him in" 。

A: My goodness, look at the piles of dirty clothes on the floor!
A: 天哪! 看這地上一堆堆的髒衣服。
B: Sorry. I was too busy this week to get around to doing the laundry.
B: 對不起! 我這個禮拜太忙了都沒時間洗衣服。
◆get around to 後面要加名詞或動名詞。

B: 我盡量將他們和我熟悉的事物與觀念作聯想。
◆不少人問黛西如何能夠記住一些英文字彙和口語表達方式。這就是我的答案嘍。

A: Yeah, I'm still teaching English at the at the same girls' high school and loving every minute of it.
A: 是啊! 我還是在同一所女子高校教英文, 而且熱愛每一刻(教書的時間)。
B: Well, I'm glad to hear that, after all these years, you still have your finger in the pie of education.
B: 很高興聽到這麼多年來你還是在教育界裡服務。
◆ 用 "have a finger in the pie" (原意:把手指伸進派裡)來指「介入或參與一件事情」應該是蠻貼切, 蠻容易記的。

| under one's nose (東西)就在眼前; 明顯的 |

A: Sorry, I'm late. I spent half an hour looking for my wallet.
A: 抱歉, 遲到了! 我找我的錢包找了半個鐘頭。
B: Did you find it?
B: 結果找到了嗎?
A: Yeah, I finally found it. The whole time it was under a newspaper on my coffee table - right under my nose!
A: 嗯! 找到了。結果其實一直就在我的眼前, 蓋在茶几上的報紙下面!
◆"right" 有「就在」、「正是」的意思。通常 "under one's nose" 一起用, 強調「就在」眼前。
◆"the whole time" 的意思是「從頭到尾」的意思, 蠻常用的。
