| up in the air 事情不明確 |
A: What is Derrick going to do with the house?
A: Derrick 打算如何處理那個房子呢。
B: I don't know what he plans to do. Things were sort of up in the air last time we talked.
B: 我不知道他打算怎麼做。上次我們談話的時候事情好像都還不是很明確。
◆"up in the air" 的原意是「在空中」的意思。用來形容一件事「懸而未決」應該是很貼切的。

| under one's nose (東西)就在眼前; 明顯的 |
A: Sorry, I'm late. I spent half an hour looking for my wallet.
A: 抱歉, 遲到了! 我找我的錢包找了半個鐘頭。
B: Did you find it?
B: 結果找到了嗎?
A: Yeah, I finally found it. The whole time it was under a newspaper on my coffee table - right under my nose!
A: 嗯! 找到了。結果其實一直就在我的眼前, 蓋在茶几上的報紙下面!
◆"right" 有「就在」、「正是」的意思。通常 "under one's nose" 一起用, 強調「就在」眼前。
◆"the whole time" 的意思是「從頭到尾」的意思, 蠻常用的。
