B: 是的。你離開前, 務必把 CD 都放回原位。我哥哥很不喜歡東西亂亂的。
◆"have a thing about" 指的是一個人對某個東西(或某個人)的一種著迷或厭惡的強烈感受。

A: Who is singing out there?
A: 是誰在外面唱歌呢?
B: (Sigh!)That's my roommate Scott. He wants to be the next American Idol, but he just doesn't have it.
B: (嘆氣)是我室友 Scott。他想成為下一個 American Idol, 但是他就是沒那個條件嘛!
◆相信你會同意, 有一些事情是要靠一點天份的。一個人可以很努力地練唱, 希望自己有一天能成為一名著名的歌手, 但是如果他天生五音不全, 恐怕夢想也會很難實現的。這裡的 "He just doesn't have it." 指的就是這個意思, 也可以說成 : "He just doesn't have what it takes.", 都是說對方欠缺了成功的條件。
◆American Idol 是福斯公司製播, 美國目前最紅的一個電視節目。很多年輕人都想藉著選拔賽成為明日之星。進入決賽者都是非常具有歌唱實力的。

A: 嘿! 24 在播囉! 你要錯過了喔!
B: I know, but I have to hit the books.
B: 我知道, 但是我必須念書。
◆hit the books 就是 study 的意思。
◆24 是福斯公司製播的熱門影集, 台灣好像是翻譯成《反恐任務》。
◆電視節目正在播出就是用 on 這個字。
【例】"There's nothing on TV right now." 現在正在播的節目都不好看。

| hit the road 出發;上路 |
A: Dad, grab a Coke.
A: 爸, 拿瓶可樂吧!
B: Thanks, Nate. Kids, let's all buckle up and hit the road!
B: 謝謝 Nate。孩子們, 讓我們把安全帶都繫好, 準備上路了!
◆buckle up 就是 buckle up the seat belt 或 fasten the seat belt 的意思。
